Friends of the Trail Member Honored for Service
On January 14th the Friends of the Trails honored member Chuck Bevelheimer for his exemplary service to the organization since the inception of its creation. Chuck has worked on several projects with Friends of the Trails. Some of those projects include digging dirt and pouring concrete for the South Park Trail and kiosk. He has helped with the design of the Dogwood trail signs, assisted with the implementation of the Quincy Bikes Program, and worked on the Indian Mounds Park/RJ Peters path project. Chuck has been an instrumental force with his position at the City of Quincy in the Planning and Development Department in helping the organization with the development of the riverfront corridor, helping to spearhead ordinances requiring new subdivisions to implement sidewalks in their designs, and cooperating with the city engineers office. Chuck is the current Friends of the Trails Secretary and is always willing to help. This past year he volunteered at the 3rd Annual Friends of the Trails Bicycle Fun’d Ride and Walk to serve spaghetti to participants. Chuck is currently working on trying to get funding for the 12th Street path running north of Cherry Lane and is continuing to help pursue Safe Routes to School funding through the State of Illinois. Friends of the Trails can not express their gratitude enough for this valuable member of our organization.
