Bicycle Fund Ride 2007

The Friends of the Trails held their second annual Bicycle Fund Ride this year on August 25, 2007. The weather was absolutely perfect for the 161 riders who participated in this year’s event. The participants chose from one of four bicycle routes: the 5, 10, 20 or 62 mile (metric century). The 62-mile route was a new addition for this year’s event because many riders from last year’s ride requested a more challenging route.

All participants began the morning at the All America Park collecting their maps and poker cards. While completing their routes, they stopped at various locations in Quincy and Adams County to replenish their bodies and draw a playing card to complete their poker hand. Upon their return to the All America Park, their cards were scored while they were served a delicious spaghetti dinner. Prizes were awarded to the top three hands in each of the four categories.

The Friends of the Trails thank Becky Woodward for all of her hard work coordinating the event and all of the sponsors and volunteers who helped make the event a huge success. Please mark your calendar for next year’s Bicycle Fund Ride to be held on Saturday, August 23, 2008 and remember the entry fees and donations you give help to support and develop the Dogwood Trail.
